What can i bring with me to my treatment?

Drug rehab clinics have extremely strict policies when it comes to specific items that you can bring with you to the centre. Most of these will recommend a packing checklist and make you aware of prohibited items.

Treatment centres allow the necessities, but extras will vary depending on the centre

You should refer to your selected rehabs recommendations however this is what it is recommended you bring

A list of names, addresses, and phone numbers of those that you wish you have involved in your treatment (this includes loved ones, healthcare professionals and 12 step sponsors etc.)

Jewelry that you wear every day and consider to be a part of your everyday outfit for example a wedding ring, watch, sentimental necklace. Otherwise leave all valuable items at home.

An alarm clock that doesn’t have a radio, these are often supplied by the centre – do check before you go out to get one.

Any prescription medication you might have – must be in the original pharmacy bottle with original information label intact. Liquid medications should be new and sealed. You need to bring a list of all your medications and the dosages of each.

An adequate amount of cash – no more than £100

Your checkbook, credit card or debit card to pay for treatment medications.

Insurance cards and a form of identification (driver’s license, passports etc)

A notebook, diary or journal

Stamps and envelopes if you want to send letters while you are there.

Pictures of loved ones to keep in your room or wallet – this will remind you why you’re doing this.

What clothing should you bring with you?

Most rehab clinics have a strict dress code, therefore it’s important you are aware of restrictions when packing. If unsure about what you will need for the weather, pack all layering options, – t shirts, jumpers, cardigans and jackets. Keep in mind that space in your room could be quite limited depending on your accommodation options – don’t over pack!

If you already have access to a laundry machine at your rehabilitation centre, a week’s worth of laundry should do the trick. Be sure to pack clothes which are easily washed and don’t have any particular special requirements – dry cleaning etc.

Be sure to bring a week’s worth of appropriate and comfortable clothing, including : Shoes, trousers, shorts, socks, underwear, bathing costumes – trunks for me, one piece for women, sleeping clothes, a coat/jacket, a dressing gown/ bath robe, belt, a hat – your centre might not allow hats indoors please note, slippers.
